Vienna City Guide

Vienna is the capital of the Republic of Austria. At the same time, it is one of the 9 Austrian federal states. It has close to 2 million inhabitants, is the 2ndlargest city in the German-speaking area and the 6thlargest city in the European Union.

Its history begins about 4,000 years ago, when humans first settled there. Due to its ideal position along the Danube river between the foothills of the Alps and the lowlands in the East, it steadily gained importance as a trading center in the heart of Europe.

In international rankings which evaluate the quality of life of expatriates Vienna regularly ranks at the top worldwide. It is considered one of Europe’s most prosperous cities. It offers a unique mix of historic architecture, culture and music, and a fun nightlife.
