Destination overview
The Arlberg has several different faces.
St. Anton is part of the Arlberg, Austria's largest interconnected ski area and one of the Alps' defining winter destinations. The linked network reaches Lech, Zürs, Stuben and other villages, with around 300 km of prepared pistes and more than 200 km of marked ski routes. Snowfall can be abundant, particularly towards the northern Arlberg, though no week comes with a powder guarantee.
Lech and Zürs bring luxury hotels, fine dining and a polished Alpine atmosphere. St. Anton brings the party: MooserWirt and Krazy Kanguruh are renowned après-ski stops. The third face is freeride. Deep-snow bowls, steep slopes and extensive lift access give strong skiers enormous scope to explore.
Popular lines can be tracked out very quickly after a storm, but the breadth of terrain rewards local knowledge. A qualified mountain guide is strongly recommended if the group is new to the Arlberg. Steep slopes, complex terrain and avalanche exposure make sound decisions, equipment and current conditions essential.
